Moo and Budgeting

Our youngest son, nicknamed Moo, moved into his own place 3 weeks ago for college. We made sure he had everything he needed and our village blessed us as well. However, there is one thing Moo needs: BUDGETING SKILLS!

I realized Moo would need some assistance in this area months ago. But what was really telling was his statement during a recent conversation we had, “I have been used to unlimited funds. Now I have to really watch my spending…”

I stared at him wide eyed. What unlimited funds was he talking about? Our funds are definitely NOT unlimited! But I quickly caught myself. I saw his perspective and realized that was how he experienced his life: he asked, we gave. That’s what he knew.

But now Moo is learning the life of a college student with limited funds. He will learn to budget; he has no choice. We must help him learn this lesson now while he’s young. We have to do more than talk about budgeting. We must teach him.

We are proud of everything Moo has accomplished this far. He’s had to learn and be responsible for a lot of things in a short period of time. We understand this is a marathon, not a sprint. There will be hiccups along the way; that’s just life.

This is just the beginning of this leg of Moo’s journey. We are confident he will figure things out. And as always, Team Pruden is here to support him. But yeah, he’s gonna have to get this money thing straight real soon 😇💴

Peace and Blessings,

KP
