The Broken Rack

I was hanging up clothes on my clothes rack in my bathroom this morning and this happened. Yep, the rack broke! I went to the kitchen, made Moo’s omelette, then returned to the rack and started taking the fallen clothes to the couch. I made a mental note to look for a heavy duty rack later on.

In the past, if something like this had happened, I would’ve been upset and anxious. I am a habitual person and something happening outside of my plan would send me in a tailspin. But you know why I wasn’t upset? Because I knew this day was coming. Weeks ago, I saw the rack getting weak from all of the clothes I put on it. So what did I do? I brought a cinder block from outside and propped it up against one side of the rack to hold it up. Sure, I looked for a more stable rack, but didn’t follow through with a purchase. Now I have no choice but to continue my closet purge and purchase a new, more sturdy rack.

We should not be surprised when calamities befall us. If we are honest with ourselves, we see trouble coming from a mile away: an unfulfilling job we continue to go to; a relationship that is abusive, behaviors that we know don’t benefit us and those around us; belief systems that are contrary to our peace. But yet we continue on the path of poor choices. Then, a crisis happens.

What can we do to prevent hardships? Well, we can’t prevent all hardships that happen in our lives; that’s contrary to His word. But we can be responsible for our behaviors and what we allow or don’t allow in our sphere on influence. We can stop “propping up” people and relationships that don’t contribute to our peace. We can pray for and receive the people, places and things He gives us to enjoy this life…..

OAN: where can I find a heavy duty rack?🤦🏾‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️😳
